How does Madara know about the 8 gates???

Did anyone else notice when Madara said "if you're not using red steam, you're underestimating me" but Gai surprised the hell out of Madara with just the seventh gate blue steam! How the hell does Madara know about the gates? Could it possible that he knows the origins of the Gates? Will Guy Sensei die in vain!?!? Or will he take Madara back to the afterlife when he dies?

I think the Gate of Death will definitely compare to Rikudou Madara's strength, but I doubt it'll take him out because that's Naruto's job.

There have been users of the eight gates before Gai. If this is so, Madara will surely know because he is knowledgeable about every technique engraved on scrolls. A ninja should be ready for battle, so surely, he learned it from some random scroll or he saw it in battle

maybe gai learned it from another person..maybe the gates was not originally gai's jutsu so it possibly exist before gai knew about it..

Madara, Hashirama and Tobirama grew up in a time of constant war when just going for a walk by yourself could cost you your life if you ran into shinobi from another clan. I am sure those 3 became pretty adept at recognizing and remembering jutsus because their lives depended on it. That's why Hashi and Madara wanted to start the village bacause too many of their people were dying at too young an age. They needed to know a lot of jutsu to survive.

It became less necessary to know many different jutsu once the villages were formed because there were more people to defend each other. When the villages came to distrust each other they started keeping jutsus secret so they would have an advantage. Outside of the hokages, edo hokages, Oro, Kabuto, Madara, Obito and maybe Kakashi, the younger shinobi seem to have a limited knowledge of jutsu.

the 8 gate is a old technique which all ninja should be aware of because taijustu is it basic but many ninja dont practice it because it take up a life time of training and some wouldn't be also able to master it after a life time of training
