Depends on your living arrangements but I found moving out of my parents' to magnify my freedoms by orders of magnitude - until I got myself a gf.
My lady is Chinese and raised by pretty traditional folk - so she can cook really well, and I mostly let her do the cooking whenever she was around back in London (and she was around almost every-day). However she's also OCD about many things and makes freedom subverting demands of me, e.g. she forces me to keep my apartment clean and I can't leave the dishes unwashed for days on end with her around.
Now I've moved again for studies, the lady can't follow me this year, and I now live in student accommodation with a bunch of guys (we barely interact despite living in the same house) - I've regained all of my freedom. On the other hand I can't cook to save my life and am back to the old repertoire of Uncle Ben's rice, Tesco beef steak and chicken that I just put in the oven, canned tuna/salmon, the Tesco vegetables mix that I just boil and boiled eggs (for breakfast, everyday). Which has very painfully made me realize how much I appreciate her cooking.
That and the sexual frustration. Oh and I'm a med student so I'm pretty much studying day and night with little to no human contact outside of class and the Friday night social events which are getting duller by the week.
I'm a pretty solitary guy and prefer being alone but if this keeps up, I'm probably heading toward clinical depression.
