Bringer of Darkness would be to non effect as the Sharingan would see through it without difficulty. How ever they're cases in which he cannot counter being Mugen Tsukuyomi, Itachi's special version of Tsukuyomi and of course Kotoamatsukami.

If he thought Obito an upgraded version of Tsukoyomi (Eternal Tsukoyomi), I don't see how he can't do a downgraded version.

One would think that Tsukuyomi wouldn't even come into play in a fight between Hashirama and Itachi, as facing someone like Hashirama, Itachi would be forced to focus on defending himself from the high-scale Mokuton techniques that Hashirama uses on a regular basis. Not to mention the range in which Tsukuyomi can be used is pretty short. And Hashirama has Mokuton Bunshins that Itachi might try to use Tsukuyomi on, resulting in a waste of his chakra and a risk of being surprise attacked by the real Hashirama.
It's ridiculous to think Itachi would be able to pull it off against Hashirama; the man who is well capable of fighting from a mid-long range and still overwhelm his opponents with his high-scale Mokuton techniques and Mokuton Bunshins.

Not the way I would say it, but it most likely is this. Hashi fought Madara and Izuna countless times. There's no reason really for him to get caught in a genjutsu he knows coming.

I don't know where you got the idea that I was talking about Hahirama's hype. In fact, I was taking into account Hashirama's capability in battle, and his fighting style that would easily overwhelm any ninja that is not Madara Uchiha.

So? He may use it against an Uchiha with MS. Even Guy has a tactic to counter his rival's sharingan. I'm sure Hashi thought of something in the +10 years he knew Madara for.
