We know that Boruto for the longest time (until the Boruto movie events) has been all bratty about Naruto always being busy and not having time to come home and eat and play, and things of that nature.

I thought about something though:

Assuming that Boruto kept the same personality, how do you think Boruto would react to Goku as a father?

Quotes of note:

"I don't even know when Gohan and Goten were born" - Son Goku
"I've never seen a baby be born, I assume Chichi was born the same way right?" - Son Goku

Goku (to Trunks): "You put your mouth to hers (Mai's)".
Vegeta (to Goku): "Wait, you're saying you've never kissed?"
Goku: "Nope"
Vegeta: "But you're married!"
Goku: "So?"

In his defense, Goku was dead when goten was born(although he’s granted his body and could of probably watched tbh) he’s still a better dad than naruto, so HAH!

Still doesn't explain Gohan.

How is he a better dad than Naruto?

I was kidding, as none of Gokus relationships outside of vegeta and piccolo are ever really taken seriously consistently by the series, then again, dragonball is much less serious in that dept in general. That being said, I’ll play devils advocate, he does spend time with gohan in z, and sees goten the chance he does. I’d rather my dad not be around as a baby then later on when I’d actually remember tbh

He wouldn’t do any of that. He’ll probably try to fight Goku everyday in which Goku will happily engage.

Naruto spends time with Boruto too though. He just has a job that keeps him busy. He is literally the leader of an entire village. Of course he can't spend every waking moment with his family.

Naruto at least has an excuse for being away so much. He is a leader of the people and has a responsibility to them as well as his family. At the end of the day, Naruto comes home to his family.

Goku galavants around the universe training and fighting and occasionally engages in fatherly duties. Boruto would probably be raised and trained by Vegeta :lmao:

I think Boruto's nature would probably clash more with Goku's since Naruto seems more mature in that aspect.

Like if Boruto tried to hit him, Naruto would hold him down, discipline him, and be gone. Whereas Goku might actually beat his ass and challenge him man to man.

I think Boruto's root problem was that he wasn't ready to cope with having a dad, and then not having a dad anymore. If he started with Goku being gone most of the time, he would probably have to cope with it since he didn't have much of base to begin with.

If Himawari isn't in the picture, then yeah he's probably going to end up more like Goten.

The goten thing is funny, cause in z, Goku didn’t do too bad with goten BECAUSE of the circumstances. The one chance he was alive he did actually spend what he could with goten until sh t popped off, and he does show some faith in his son when he decides(stupidly) to let the kids take him out. The sh tty part is I can’t remember if gokus dead or alive when he beats buu lol. He was also presumably pretty close with gohan as a baby, or at least it looks it at the beginning of z. Anyways my point was they had a small chance to make something out of that with super and didn’t even bother. Although in all honesty I don’t hold db’s relationships to the same scrutiny as I do narutos, as they just aren’t anywhere near as important to the plot

Agreed. I think Gohan meeting Goten is actually one of my favorite moments of DBZ, despite not really liking Goku much as a father.

I feel the same way too. I don't think DBZ plays a vital part in relationships or family matters the way Naruto did at all. Like, Gohan had a worse child life than anyone in the next generation, but his character doesn't reflect on those issues. Nor the struggles of not having a dad around. He pretty much just coped with it normally, even faced with death most of the time too.

In that aspect DBZ has a more comedic route when it comes to these things, whereas if a Naruto character went through the same childhood as Gohan, they would have 300 flash back episodes, a sad OST named after them, and a sad ED to make you sympathize more :lol

DBZ just brushes it off and pretends it doesn't happen. Which makes sense because the series never really focused on those types of matters to begin with. Still it would have been interesting to see Gohan reflect more on his childhood, especially since that was when he was shining the most as a character.
