Yeah that is what I was thinking, back then, everyone was like,"OMG, by 2010 we will have flying cars and we will have gone to other planets and cured every disease!" and did that happen? No. So I don't think out world really will advance as much as people say we will in 20-30 years. Sure there will be improvements, but not many huge and drastic ones. ​
