-Standardize test from Elementary to high school.Stuff like the ACT/SAT..This might turn into a mini rant about stuff I experienced with these test and some of my teachers.
I honestly don't care for them. I'm not sure about you guys but were I live at the kids are never properly prepared for these things. From elementary to highschool it was like these teachers would either try to cram the material in our heads, not teach it or teach you stuff they think is on the test but actually isn't.

When teachers would cram this material or try to make us cram it they would wait a week or two before these test. I can't completely fault the teacher because some of them told us our school board gave them a curriculum of what to teach and sometimes most of the stuff on the standardized test wasn't taught to us.

I remember I went to an ACT prep for two weekends. It was honestly a waste of time and had the worst tactics ever. We were there for 5 hours. For 3 hours they reviewed or rather skimmed over english, reading, science, and math than they gave us a practice test and told us that this was guarantee to help us score higher. Some people score 25-30s. I got a 19 which was the same score I made on my ACT the first seven times I took it. (I took this test nine times actually because I was trying to get a 21 in math but I kept getting stuck at 20. In Louisiana if you make 21+ in math and English you got a grant called TOPS).When we took the real ACT some people who made 25-30s on the practice ACT at that prep thing made 15-22 or something and complained about how the prep didn't help.

Another think I didn't like was when some people believed that these test measured intelligence or something.Like there were people are my highschool who were failing classes but somehow scoring high on the ACT and trying to shame people. I remember my 11th grade math teacher tried this. This woman legit call some of us out in front of the class and told us to take a remedial math because we didn't make a 21 and she was praising people who made 21s(real professional*sarcasm*) and told them take advance math. These people attempted to shame us than I said to the teacher"I'm not taking a remedial math. I'm taking advance math.I have a B in this class. Why are you recommending adv.math to some of the class when you told us a few days ago who was failing your class and some of the people you told take adv. math is failing your class." This woman said "You need to take remedial because you ask a lot of questions.".So I was like "Ok,so I'm suppose to not ask you questions to understand the work?"She had me stay after class to tell me that she though I would fail college because of my math ACT score.:kk: ....I could go on about this one teacher but that's for another time.

After I got in college most of the stuff I didn't know on the ACT was taught to us.I actually passed all my maths with A's or B's.I felt like they actually taught us some of these stuff better in college and helped us to understand the material better.

I'm not really a fan of it, especially since the funding for a lot of schools is increasingly being partially based on standardized testing.

Don't feel like the ACT and SAT are really worth anything either in reality. The vast majority of universities in the United States have extremely high acceptance rates. The SATs and ACTs are essentially exit-exams for secondary education. Why waste everyone's time when the only people for whom they have real value are the people who are already excelling regardless and outside of the standardized tests (people applying to highly selective schools)?

I kind of agree. Teachers don't care about students these days tbh. But we can't do anything can we?

I think it's bullshit to weed out the "poorly mark" kids from the "excellent mark" kids.

whose idea was it to turn the SATs into an accurate measurement meter to estimate the student's readiness for college anyway? That concept is literary ****ed up man, especially when nowadays it's literary "oh look you have a low score, may you please gtfo our college/university? thank you."

I personally hate it, but it's one of those things that I had dealt with regardless of how much I hated it.

Standardized testing more so-and-so in a sense. SAT and ACT ensures fair and equal comparison for all students. Standardized tests are pretty objective in nature. However, standardized testing only measures a small portion of what students learn for a whole day. SAT and ACT do not take other factors such as stress into account when measuring students performance. IMO, I don't really like standardized tests because they aren't reliable measures of how well students will do in postsecondary education.

Standardized tests are a cop out for the education system to fool itself into thinking that what they are doing is working at the expense of the children in the system. Then when the polls show the numbers were bullshit they blame it on our "bad generation"

Our bad generation that's outperforming them in almost every category xD

The test were never meant to test your intelligence, just your test taking skills which is vital for college whether you like it or not.

You can't sit forever trying to answer a question and these standardized questions gives the students the ability to quickly process the questions and allows them to answer.

The SAT Math consists of basic algebra, geometry, and pattern based question. It isn't trying to get behind the difficulty of mathematics so these tests are necessary to see whether you have mastered the basic or not.

Even as you graduate standardized exams will never leave. The GRE appears and people are going to study their asses off for that. In India there is something known as the CAT Exam so standardized test will never leave.

They aren't that bad because what's the point of learn all of the complex items when you don't know how to solve the area of a trapezoid in minute given on a graph.
