I miss Part 1 of the anime. They had some of the best animated fights in the entire series, especially when you compare them to recent episodes.

I think its because Ninjutsu/Genjutsu/Taijutsu were used more tactically in battles. Also, there was alot more direct martial arts.

Now, battles are predominantly about who has the most OP Jutsu to use, and those who dont are seen as fodder by the majority unfortunately.
