How do they know each other?

So I was wondering that since madara and hashirama (both elder brothers) just met and didnt even know each other's surnames, how is it possible the izuna and tobirama knows each other?

I mean it's understandable that Butsuma and Tajima knew each other because they are adults and probably fought before but tobirama and izuna? :O

Hashi didn't seem to want to fight, so he probably wasn't used as much as Tobirama.

tobirama and izuna knew eachother from going to fight with their dads as a team against eachother
and they survived each fight and acknowledged eachothers power i guess
or they used to sneak around and hang out like their big bros did

It's apparent that both parties were gathering identical intel. IMO that's the real mystery. What are the odds?

That is strange. Didn't notice until this thread. The way Tobirama and Izuna greet each other is so casual! Like they've fought many times. Yet Hashi and Madara never met? Weird indeed...

Unless translations were off, why the hell would Tobirama greet Izuna like that...

Just venturing a guess but it felt like Tobirama and Izuna have already met on the battlefield once before.

It's true that Hashirama and Madara didn't know each other until recently but things don't necessarily have to be the same way for their brothers. Remember Hashirama/Tobirama and Madara/Izuna aren't attached to each other by the hip!
