How do people Pick their....

So the way pick their favorite character is just by power? Is that all people see when choosing a favorite.?
Or do they take in consideration of personality?

I don't care about powers.
Characters with tastefully-made tragic backgrounds, appropriate development and self-sacrificial actions are often the ones turning out to be my favorites. ^^

Power is rarely among my reasons for a character being my favorite. I choose based on their actions, thoughts, and just characterization in general.

Although often times I find myself justifying/debating that they are powerful against other people's favorites, or ones that I don't like

Well, its mostly personality for me. If i can relate to a character, i tend to like them a lot. For example I'm a lot like Shikamaru (albeit alot dumber xD) personality wise, thus he's one of my favorites. Im like Minato (and Jiraiya...) to an extent.
