So, I'm right around the part where Zoro is facing Mihawk, and I was wondering how will normal people compete with Devil Fruit users in the future of this series? I don't care about spoilers, so feel free to tell me. Can normal people in OP use ki/chi/chakra, or does that not exist in the OPverse?

There is a thing called haki which df users can also use, but haki really helps even out the fight for people that havn't eaten a df. I would prefer not to spoil you more than that, but if you want you can go to the one piece wiki and look up things all about haki.

Haki if u r strong enough
paramecia and zoan can be fought normally
Logia can only be defeated by haki, sea stone, or their elemental counter

All are affected by seawater and seastone

With Haki... There are 3 types of haki and if you are getting stronger and stronger u gain 2 of them that really helps to counter them and win them too, the 3rd type of haki... Well you have to born with it and only 1 in a million born with this haki.

Like zoro or ace or luffy, theyve been training ever since they were a kids, or something like blackbeard, waiting for a chance, and has a abnormal body, still training.

My answer is akin to all members' responses above :D
Haki basically means spirit, or ambition, or colour. It's different than chakra concept so hopefully you won't get confused.

Everyone has haki but it depends on that person to manifest it and use it to the max. To put it simply, one can develop haki due to these following circumstances;
  • natural talent/self-develop since childhood
  • intense trainings
  • traumatic experiences/unusual strong wish on something requires power
Correct me if i'm wrong, nakama :) I feel the need to explain at least to this extent before some people misunderstand how exactly haki works.
