I noticed that bios that were made after mine have already had their fates decided while mine is still sitting. I guess it was naive to think that a "First come, first serve" policy was in place. Is there a process to this? Or do the mods have free rein to check which ever ones they want to, when they want to? I'm thinking its the latter of the two considering there are still bios from 4 months ago that are still sitting. Does anyone have any idea how this works?

Hello there. First of all, I'm not an rp mod and therefore not someone who checks bios, but I have a bit of an idea how it works. Considering there are more than one mod checking them, this might not apply for all. Also, rp mods, correct me if I'm wrong, but here is the deal according to me.

As far as my knowledge on this topic goes, bios are getting checked in order of submission, thus indeed first come first serve. However, there are cases where this does not apply. As Caliburn is not around at the moment, some bios might get checked with a (slight) delay. These are the bios of moderators, senseis, certain special ability bios and bios where the new rp moderators are not sure of. When you (considering the first two on that list are not for you) have a special ability in your bio which the mod that is currently checking the bios is told not to check, or if there are vague things in your bio, or anything else that might make them doubt whether to approve or decline your bio, they will leave them be until Caliburn returns, as Caliburn is rp administrator and the one that is able to check the above named biographies.
If you have the feeling that none of the above named cases is the case of your bio, then just be patient. Patience is a virtue.

It will be checked sooner or later in any case.
Hope this solved your problem/question.

Cheers.

Also, if your biography is really long, then it will take longer for it to get checked.

Those 4-month bios you are referring to are test bios, meaning the user first needs to pass a test before the bio can be checked. As long as the test isn't finished, the bio can't be checked.

Excluding test bios the standard approach (but not by rule required approach) is that the oldest pages get checked first. Whichever order the bio checker does the bios on those pages is for him to decide. Because of my workload I simply check bios every few weeks, however then I check hundreds of bios in a timespan of a few days. I pick randomly bios of the page I'm checking, but if all of them get checked in rapid succession, the time interval between them is so low it really doesn't matter which order they are done.

People with complicated bios, with long custom histories etc. will by default have to wait longer as the time it takes to check those could be used to check multiple other bios.

Recently I taught Reborn the basics of bio checking and he has been checking the basic, simplistic bios following the method of the oldest page.

Also regularly people change their mind and want to have their bio dropped even before it got checked. Considering we don't have to check those bios, only move them, it's done in a flash, but in the end they never got checked.
