It fits within the logic of the story but unless there's some explanation regarding how the ootutsuki evolved to breath in space then it doesn't fit within the logic of the series and I would consider it a big plot hole. There isn't really anything you can do/say to change my mind so I'm not going to waste time engaging in a debate with you unless you have an explanation regarding how humans can breath on the moon without space helmets.

A better question is: Why do people act as if they have never seen any other anime or piece of fiction that disregards the fact that humans can't breathe in space in real life?

the Moon is hollow, they found some sort of dimensional portal on Earth to go there without traveling in space (that's where the special genjutsu trap was).
Hamura created an atmosphere so people could live on the Moon, they also had a fake sun and basically the same stuff that we have on Earth like lakes, oceans, animals, trees etc
