It is indeed possible that some original members of the Uzumaki and Uchiha clan survived. But whether this is the case or not, obviously, no one knows for sure at this point. Personally, I doubt this.

Yeah. Somehow a big question considering they had great ties with konoha. Though i think kishi want them dead because the edo technique would've rendered sort of useless when facing people who are especially known for sealing. The whole plot will be changed if the clan was alive.
