Apologies if this question is retarded, but why did Kamui fail?

Did Tobi do something or the Gedo could simply not be defeated by Kamui or something else?

Isnt it obvious? Remember Tobi said to Kakashi after Sasuke vs Danzo that his Kamui wont work on him, well that means Tobi knows how it works so he somehow cancelled it thats why he said last chapter that he opens his mouth too much.
