How did the 3rd Coffin fail?

I was just reminded of this by another thread, but I have always wondered about it....

We all know Minato was in it....

Did it fail on its own? Or did Hiruzen stop it?

I am still not a 100% on this

It failed on its' own, Kishi was just starting to write up the rules of Edo Tensei back then. The mere fact that he was able to conjure a coffin that supposedly contained Minato's corpse is impossible since the Edo ritual itself would've failed with Minato's soul inside RDS

His soul was not in the Pure World, he was in the Reaper. He could only be in the PW for his Edo Tensei to work. That's why Hashi and Tobir and Hiruzen can't be resurrected as well.

Oh really? He couldn't do anything to stop it? Then why did Hiruzen say 'I was able to stop it'? yeah he knew how to stop it, most likely because he was Tobirama's student.
