How did Senju and Uchiha come to be?

We know that Kuguya Ootsutsuki + ? = gave birth to Hagoromo Ootsutsuki and Hamura Ootsutsuki. Here what I don't get we know that Hagoromo Ootsutsuki + ? = Indra and Ashura, but here what doesn't make sense, how did Hagoromo Ootsutsuki give birth to a Senju and Uchiha?

I mean Hagoromo is a Ootsutsuki, so how come Indra and Ashura are not Ootsutsuki? Where did Senju and Uchiha come from?
