Naruto was as instrumental as Sasuke is now. Narutos Lava RS did diddly squat if you say "he planned on absorbing the shinju"

Sasuke got them out of the Gravity dimension which would've killed them. He created the opening for Naruto to rip Kaguyas arm. Kaguya cannot be sealed without his arm. Sasuke protected them from her needle jizo. He was helpful just not the main star in this fight like he was in the last

Only problem with your logic here is this:

Madara's stab on Sasuke was actually effective and had Sasuke on the brink of death while Sasuke's stab and cut had no effect.
Madara had planned to get his rinnegan while Sasuke had not planned to meet Hagoromo.
Sasuke did care about getting stabbed while Madara was more focused on Sakura who was about to destroy his rinnegan.

Do you see the difference here?

It's not that he didn't wanna fight sasuke, he knew he wasn't gonna win against Naruto and sasuke without his other rinnegan.
