Naruto used his sage boosted, tailed beast boosted, yang boosted Rasenshuriken to do that. Besides, that was just a regular Chidori. It wasn't black lightning, which is shown with lots of zig-zag strides.

And that wouldn't make since. Shouldn't it be easier to phase your back than it is to Kamui your actual existence?

No because it is trickier with phasing, with phasing you exist in BOTH dimensions, meaning you have to have a great amount of control over it. But with teleporting, you are just going to another dimension completely, not really existing in both.

Also, that was KAkashi's Kamui sharingan, and Kakashi's has only been shown to be able to teleport things, not phase through things

May not be black Chidori, but its a yin seal sword. He's used it several times. Even when he got manhandled by Madara's new limbo clone.
