How did Obito survive the boulder?

Was it ever explained what Madara meant when he said Obito 'slipped past the boulder'? If Madara meant it literally then its pretty lame because it makes no sense. Obito couldn't use kamui because he only had two tomoe sharingan at the time. This was pretty big part of Obito's survival so if this isn't explained its kind of bullshit.

Obito wasn't dead i think, he knew that Kakashi killed Rin which is still unexplained. I think he knew it because he gave Kakashi his Sharingan which was somehow connected to Obito. When he received that information he got mad and he unlocked the Mangekyou Sharingan as well to cast Kamui.

He acidently activated kumi without knowing it, but it still crushed him. Becuase seriously.... that or madara came to save his ass under those rocks, other than that, he would have been dead.
