How did nagato get rinnegan?

Nagato was born with the rinnegan and awakened it, that is why he's third of six paths, and my bad logic I accidentally hit quote and didn't feel like going back

Edit: if you go to nagatos databook written by kishi himself, he says Nagato awakens it

No dude he did not awaken it. If he did he could deactivate it like Madara. He is like kakashi. Kakashi recieved the sharingan, he was not an Uchiha thus he could not deactivate it so instead he covered it so it would not waste chakra. He is only able to use it because he is a member of the uzamaki clan so he has tons of chakra that the rennigan requires .
