I know that lee wasn't in the same classroom as Naruto but if he can't use any jutsu and naturist class had to be able to use at least the transformation tech did lee just a free pity pass or what?

Naruto's Academy graduation demonstrates that there are other ways of graduating other than passing the final exam. Naruto graduated for his mastery of an A-Rank, forbidden technique, which is impossible for most ninja, let alone an Academy student; whereas the clone jutsu required during his exam was only an E-Rank technique.

The technique used for the exam is also selected by the teacher and could have been a technique other than the clone jutsu for Lee's class. For instance, the series has used matches between students for examinations. Or perhaps the instructors simply recognized Lee's talent and graduated him on his tai jutsu alone.

Why would Guy Recommend him? He Have only met Lee once before he got him as a Genin student. And didn't Gai say Lee's Taijutsu was nothing special doing the whole Tsunade operation thing when they has their little bonding scene? I'm pretty sure he did.

well could be averaged out? sakura said she had to take a writen test and then there was all the shuriken (sorry if i mispelled that!) pratice so maybe he did bomb the chakara parts but made up for it in all the other parts? i mean yea naruto needed to know clone jutsu to pass but then again our fav orange ninja didn't well in anything so to bring his grade up he needed \clones?
