How did Kakuzu fight Hashirama?

Kakuzu was born with Domu. One cannot simply separate Kakuzu from his ultimate technique.

Also, Domu still tanks.

Kakuzu was born with Domu? and what about no? Domu isn't a kekkei genkai or similar stuff, it's a jutsu linked with Kakuzu's forbidden technique, as everyhing he showed us. And anyway, do you really think that Domu can tank attacks that broke even the Perfect Susanoo out?

Similar to how onnoki and muu survived after fighting madara. adults don't generally go all out on kids

I personally think that Madara let them survive. All in all, he's not the kind of a guy who kills without a reason, he prefers a lot to be feared and respected, he probably left them alive in order to make them spread his fame through their village

I don't know how he fought Hashirama, it's a fact that he got his tentacle-technique afterwards. But he must have been a very powerful shinobi before that, otherwise the village wouldn't have sent him to kill the first Hokage that was known as the most powerful shinobi in history. Sadly we never saw the fight, it would've been very interesting !
In the end, Hashirama let him go, I guess. I mean, he was a kind guy after all.

Thanks yes, of course he was very talented even before gaining the Secret Technique, maybe his ability in taijutsu could suggest us that in his youth he was a very skilled warrior with a preference for martial arts and short range combat, but this suppositions are just "fried air"

So yeah. KinGin fought and nearly killed both Tobirama, and their Raikage.

He fought KinGin during a coup, where he was left in critical condition. Obviously, he survived that. Then was later actually killed by the Kinkaku Butai. And it has not been proven the brothers were in that group. But he did fight KinGin at least once. The coup and ambush in the forest were 2 separate events. Why this is so controversial among fans, Idk.

People above, you're misunderstanding. Kakuzu obtained domu and all that stuff AFTER fighting Hashirama. When fighting him, he didnt have any powers from that secret hidden waterfall village technique, meaning that he should be pretty weak, so how was he able to fight Hiroshima 1 on 1? - That's what the OP meant.

Proof that he attained Domu afterwards. Domu isn't the secret technique, and ever thought that he had other skills before that and just chose to use his secret techniques against Kakashi and them?
Because that won't be the first time we've seen people stop using their other abilities upon getting a new ability (Sasuke and his Chidori variants aside from Spear and then Kirin, Madara when he got the Juubi, etc)

The brothers obviously weren't in that group. They left Kumo, got some of Kurama's power and assaulted the second Raikage and Hokage, as you yourself said. With already leaving the village they were missing nin, after attacking the heads of two villages they were obviously branded as top-priority criminals. Tobirama made it clear he was facing Kumogakure shinobi, so unless someone thinks Kumo employed Kin and Gin just like that after their crimes, it's easy to reach the conclusion they weren't in that squad Tobirama died to.

I don't think they were in that group either. But some fans seemed determined to say KinGin were there, and merge the ambush with the coup, so that it was all one event. If someone mentions them beating Tobirama, many comment "he lost to KinGin who had 18 other ninja with them." So, like stated in my post, I don't get how people are still confused over that. Or why it's so hard to accept it was 2 different events.
