How did Kakashi actually get the Mangekyou sharingan?

As we know, Kakashi gained it the same time Obito witnessed the death of Rin. Though, Kakashi never used it until part II? Why is this... Is this a plot hole? Did Kishi randomly make up Rin's death being the catalyst for Obito's MS...?

I'm guessing he had to build up his stamina/strength/chakra, through years of training, before he could properly use it.

I feel like i heard somewhere that he always knew he had it he just didnt have the chakra for it...so during the time gap he trained up his stamina and thats why he was able to use it then

Obito awakened it in his Right Eye and both eyes are linked, therefore both eyes gained the Mangekyou. Kakashi never had knowledge of himself awakening it because he immediately collapsed after Rin jumped in front of him.

The only reason i can think of is there were no strong opponents in part 1 to force kakashi to resort to ms.
Or his chakra & body wasnt capable of handling ms so he trained in timeskip.

I think it was like Sasuke awakening his Sharingan during the Uchiha massacre. Like Sasuke, he might not have even known that he awakened the MS at that time. Sasuke passed out immediately after awakening his Sharingan, and Kakashi did the same when his MS first appeared. It is likely that not only did they not remember the initial awakening, but also wouldn't be able to use their new abilities until h later anyway.

I believe he didn't know about it because he passed out , after his first fight with Itachi he suffered from Itachi's mangekyou , so he realized there is something like that , he searched for it , and he found that maybe because of killing Rin he might have it too ! that's my opinion !

Probably similar to Sasuke unlocking the Sharingan at 7 but unable to use it for several years. Kakashi passed out the same way Sasuke did so it could be possible that they just didn't remember how to activate it.

Plot if you ask me, Sasuke forgot that he unlocked the sharingan but he was still a kid. How can Kakashi take so many years to figure out that his eye changed.. It's not like MS was a well kept secret.

It explains how he knew about itachi's MS. But it's also possible he couldn't benefit from it until he found out about kamui. Or possibly he didn't know about his MS (seeing he passed out when he got it) until he unlocked Kamui.

He could do that as a kid? I'm not following...

He shouldn't have had any form of control whatsoever, considering the same day the sharingan was transplanted he went from 2T to Mangekyou, and he's not even an Uchiha.

he didn't know he had it. Remember he passed out b4 he could even use it.
What i don't get is how he didn't go blind yet or in fact show any signs of blindness considering that he was the youngest one to awaken mongekyo sharingan, he doesn't have senju dna or uchiha dna, and he's had it longer than anyone(that we know of) other than madara.
