I mean seriously..it wasn't old age that killed him obviously. Could he have died from a disease (heart disease like Goku would be interesting)? I doubt he was killed by another shinobi since he was so powerful..I highly doubt it was suicide too because it seemed like he really wanted to protect the village and its people.

Hashi had to have had his food tampered with and poisoned. The guy was too powerful to be defeated in combat.

In my opinion he is similar to the full blooded saiyan race. He is old but at the same time kept his youth. Hence his unique full blooded senju dna. Hasharama is 90% based on goku.
As for his death. It could have been a rare illness. Which couldn't be treated in his time.
