Sooo Hagaromo apparently used the Sword of Nunoboko to "create the Earth" according to Obito. But the Earth already existed even before the Otsutsuki arrived...so what did he create? My theory is that he created all the magical chakra based life and areas on Earth, like the talking animals and sage animals and their magical habitats, sort of like how he created the Bijuu in the form of talking animals. Before the fruit was eaten things were more like normal ancient Japan with people waging war via standard ninja/samurai weapons, wildlife was ordinary and the supernatural was not so common place.
When Hagaromo became the Ten Tails Jinchuriki and obtained god-like power he took inspiration from nature and created magical talking animals, new mystical locations, even animal/human hybrids like Kisame. He also altered the land into more distinct climates which would help define the great nations and ninja villages. He obviously couldn't have "created" Earth as Earth already existed, therefore he must have altered it and it only makes the most sense that he did so by adding the magical and fantasy elements to an originally ordinary planet. This would also explain the Toad Sage's ability to predict the future much like Hagaromo, who is his creator.
Also note that the sword is shaped like a strand of DNA, the basic component of all life, so it makes sense that he used it to create new life forms with his divine chakra.
