[Discussion] How did BB give Shanks his scar?

I was watching some stuff on youtube and noticed Shanks had his scar even when Luffy was a kid meaning before BB betrayed WB.So BB didnt have his OP fruit yet he still somehow got close enough to Shanks to wound him so badly.

Was it ever shown how he achieved this,for the life of me I cant remember :|

It was never shown. The only thing we know is that BB used his claws on him and that's what caused the scars (he used to have these wolverine claws). Shanks got wounded pretty bad but i'm guessing BB got 10x the treatment. That would explain why his teeth are missing

It's not so simple. Shanks was very annoyed because of his wound when he talked to Whitebeard about it and Whitebeard himself had a similar attitude when Shanks mentioned it.

Blackbeard must have used some very dirty tactics to deliver this blow. It is totally logical if you take into considderation how strong Shanks is.

Actually Shanks said he wasn't caught off-guard when he got those scars. That indicates that BB didn't attack Shanks in his sleep or even from behind. He just showed Shanks he was about that life.
