Talking about his Uzumaki heritage in part one would have gone against the underdog MO they were trying to portray him to be. If they had mentioned or pointed out that his clan was one of the 3 "God Clans" as I call them, then he wouldn't really be viewed as an underdog despite his antics.

Same reason no one ended up caring obito was an uchiha. Especially kakashi.

Plus the uzumaki blood line seemed to be known more so by adults because they were actually from a different village intially. Uchiha and Hyuuga were like the local celebrities.

Uzumaki were just thrown in for the heck of it, Naruto's main thing he got from his clan was their strong vitality as he didn't die immediately from bijuu extraction. He learned nor was hyped for any type of sealing which was what his clan was known for, and I believe destroyed for.
