Madara may have not died during the fight with Hashirama and may also have known Tobi (and worked with him).
idk, also cot confused... the times of hashirama vs madara fight and nagato are ... different, arent they? 1st won over madara... time passed... 2nd hokage... 3rd hokage... only then Jiraya appeared, and only aftrwards he trained Nagato... thats quite a time... u know....

i think at first madara thought he was summoned by Nagatos Gedล: Rinne Tensei no Jutsu ...that's what he refers to at the beginning, before realizing that it was edo tensei

I think nagato is madara grandson or is somehow related to him and the real madara and tobi my be one in the same or connected to each other and found someway to cheat death and if nagato is related to madara it might explain how he got the rinnegan cuz madara did say he was the reason nagato had the rinnegan n if they are related he told the truth in a way

I still think my theory is possible that Tobi is still Madara.
And Tobi was going to use Nagato to merge his split souls together. That is why he can be summoned as Edo tensei summoned another part of his soul or some shiz. It's on one of my theories look it up if ya want
