Someone explain this to me, sure they can't hear anything but what does that have to do with them speaking?
Do they simply not choose to? Or are they physically incapable of speech?

I can understand someone born deaf not knowing how to pronounce things but what about people who could once hear perfectly and went deaf afterwards? Does their speech get effected in any way?

It's harder to pronounce things you've never heard, and you can't correct yourself as easily if you can't hear what you're saying. They can speak, and it varies depending on their degree of deafness. And they'd be using sign language to receive communication a lot anyway, so it makes sense that it'd be their preferred method.

That depends. If a person is born deaf, then that person is unable to hear those words hence why he/she isn't able to talk at all. If a person becomes deaf later on, that's a different story.

dont want to sound like an ass, but this thread is utterly "dumb"
I agree. This is a dumb question. People who have never heard anything have no idea to say anything (they can make noises, I guess, but nothing more) and people who lost the ability to hear overtime can still speak because they learned how. I imagine the latter must be pretty scary though. Whether it be old age or an accident or what have you, going from hearing one day to not the next would be pretty scary.

Wrong, this thread isn't "dumb". Nor is it a "dumb" question. The OP generally wanted to know, though yes he could have googled for answers, he asked the base instead. Since when is wanting to be further informed about something you know nothing about considered stupid?

It isn't.

This was an informative thread, thanks everyone. To those who got butthurt, **** off. There is nothing wrong with asking questions about something you don't understand and are curious to know about. That's how you learn anything, including the fact that some people are deaf. I'm sure it took questioning/investigation to arrive at the conclusion that some people aren't able to hear anything.

To be honest, some of these people ask their personal problems and now would say you're dumb and I find that ironically hilarious so I'm on your side in this case.

In retrospect, I see your point and apologize. I'm sorry. You're right. I'm in the wrong here.
