For one to prosper more than the other inequality must exist. Its human nature, absolute equality will never exist.

All I have to say is, you're asking the wrong questions.

Because you know the stance people take reguarding equality is wrong, and can't admit it's just an excuse to raise ones own people up. I'd have no problem with that if that is just what they said they were doing.

Because equality in that sense simply cannot exist. As Mr. Sowell said in the video, you can't expect people from different areas of the world to be equal in terms of industry. However, that does not mean you do not treat people with a simple form a human equality. That is something we all have in common which puts us all on equal footing. We are all humans. The first step in creating overall 'equality' would be to get rid of greed.

It also doens't mean that you use legislature to force equality, as that will inevitablely opress one group or another

Equality in what sense does it mean Constitutional rights or people accepting the laid down by the law . As a democratic country we evolve with the issue with the same *** gender proves that we always tested democracy and accept the freedom of the people . However it takes generation gap to accept the Equality between the gender ,race or *** .

I doubt even Obama would ever think of contesting for presidency it this was 1950 but the time for equality people tested it and evolved with the process . As a Conservative i believe in equal rights for everyone ,we have every right to follow what we think if the case is against human rights there is always amendments and changes .

We aren't a democracy.

The definition if democracy is control of an organization or group by the majority of its members. IF that were the case then gay marriage among other thing would still be illegal

Democracy(As Platon meant it): a system of government by the whole population or all the eligible members of a state, typically through elected representatives.

Well i don't know where you live ! This is not same case when it was in 50's . Talking about Majority rule this will never happen in democratic election when people test democratic right . Constitution amend itself to safeguard the rights for equality . This is not same case in monarch ,fascist and communist nation !

Nature prevents such a thing as "equal" you simply cannot have a country full of equally treated people.....As for the measurement, you simply compare two things and find which one is better or worse.

equality does not naturally exist, but what we aim for is justice.
we give an example of one adult standing next to a 9 year old child standing next to a 4 years old child watching football.
the adult sees the game with no problem, the middle child has to make some effort to see (he isn't tall enough), the 4 years old child can't see.

justice is giving a box to the 9 years old child, and giving 2 boxes to the 4 years old child so the adult and the 9 years old child and the 4 years old child get equally tall so they can watch the game in the same conditions.

While I agree that striving for equality is a honorable pursuit... if it come at the cost of personal freedom (as it so often does) I am against it. Lets imagine that while looking for the boxes, the adult misses the entire game, that is no more fair thsn the original scenario.

I don't want equality. I simply want freedom to do what I want and not get bothered by jealous people.
