I like Sasuke. I think he's a good character; really dynamic. I understand he's hated because of the things he does, but he's just confused and filled with hate. He chased after his brother and lived as an avenger for about half of his life and then, when he finally killed his brother, he found out the truth about said brother. Because Itachi wasn't really a bad guy Sasuke, probably, doesn't feel like he ever got the revenge he was so in pursuit of. Now his need for revenge is twice as strong as before.
People say they hate him and call him names, but what would you do? If I found out that the person I hated and thought was evil actually wasn't? And that he was basically sacrificed in order to maintain peace? That there were really people who'd let him die portrayed as a filthy traitor, killed by someone who didn't know the truth? I'd be pissed off, too. His responses to things are human, people. Maybe he should have followed through with Itachi's wishes, but what if he had? He'd still be filled with hatred after learning the truth. That hatred would fester, manifest, make him burst and he'd go on a killing spree. Yeah. Then what do you think would have happened?
He's a good character, really. He's interesting and crazed and pained.
