These spoiled bastards can't even fight, to my knowledge. How could they uphold such positions without learning how to battle properly in such a cruel shinobi world? Do you think Sasuke will meet the fire Daimyo? After all, wouldn't he know everything about the village he runs? Just food for thought, my good people. :D

The Daimyo are Noblemen. Landowners. The government of the Narutoverse is Feudalism and Shinobi are the military. It's not the job of a Daimyo job to fight.
And they're not the leaders of the Villages, but they have authority over them. They lead the country.

A village is like an army base, and the Hokage is the General of the Army.

The Daimyo is in charge of the entire country, and they control what funding goes to the village (missions) and what the village does in the country. But since Shikamaru was able to decline the daimyo's request to be his bodyguard I don't think he has that much authority over the individual shinobi in the village.

I agree. All I'm saying is that they can be easily overthrown by the Hokages, if desired. It would result in war if other shinobi from other villages didn't like it, but...

Yeah, you're right. I'm only implying that nobody has to respect them... AT ALL.

Lol, yeah they definitely could. I think Danzo would've tried something like that eventually if he stayed Hokage. Maybe KA the Daimyo into making him leader of the nation too.

this

and to add what i think about daimyo`s, they are responsible to non-ninja population which in number greater than the shinobis. And with that in mind they could not be easily overthrown.

so a daimyo`s decision is rested on how will the general population will be affected, both ninja and non-ninja.
