I think naruto tried to summon him during the war arc but his son came instead because bunta was "busy" or something.

Yeah, imagine Gamabunta close to saving Naruto back in Part 1 only for Jiraiya to summon him for some other purpose. XD

On a more serious note, I think Gamabunta can only be summoned from Mount Myoboku, which means he can't be summoned until he returns back from the location of the one who already summoned him. Much like an elevator.

The body of the toad divides into pieces. Example; Naruto on one battle summons Bunta and gets the lower half while jiraiya will get the upper half.

There's a boss toad for all of them. Gamabunta for Minato, Gamakichi for Naruto, Gamaken for Jiraiya, and hopefully, Gamashiro and Gamatatsu for Bolt/Himawari. Also by this time I'm sure Gamabuntas sons ( Gamachiki and Gamatatsu) have had sons of their own too so there's probably several new toads.
