I think Naruto's change from Boy to Hokage was probably one of the best things in the Gaiden even with this shitty plot. Seeing him retain his old Naruto characteristics, but still showcase a difference between the old Naruto and this new Naruto was fantastic. I don't think people are giving Naruto enough credit, funny enough the man has given two less shits about his opponents thus far, but in comparison to the old Naruto, this one seems more calculating, cool headed, and determined. No one has been able to breach him, nor make him move from his spot entirely in a battle /thus far/. I doubt anyone will unless they pull out a straight up Avatar battle -- But even then this Hokage Naruto as a character without a doubt, in my opinion, is A+. His interactions with almost everyone reminds me of what a father is really supposed to be like, and a leader.
We haven't seen much of Sasuke, aside from being a deadbeat father before we found out the truth about his mission, which wasn't entirely obvious since Kishimoto said himself that he would not write about that story line, I guess you it can be interpreted both ways. Sasuke without a doubt is a ninja of caliber. I don't know if you see the direct parallels (with Itachi) but Kishimoto seems to be sacrificing Sasuke's life as a father/friend so that he can find the truth about Kaguya's army, and who it was actually made to defeat. I don't really know if he found this person yet, but the reason lies that both shinobi had to sacrifice things important to them, to keep the shinobi world alive (or in Itachi's case Konohagakure). Albeit, I surely doubt that Sasuke has found this person yet, but a reason why the Movie is looking a bit more intense in that area is because I think we might actually see both Naruto/Sasuke go all out if there is an enemy on Kaguya par level or higher.
As a father, I don't really know what to say. His interactions with his daughter don't really speak out to me, hell he even forgot her face as he tried to rid her from this world. I don't really want to go into this discussion but I just don't feel for that area, Kishimoto created too many holes with his shitty writing for me to accept it as good.
However as fathers, in the sense of protecting and not relationship wise, both Naruto/Sasuke's maturity and sacrifices are noteworthy.
What do you think about them so far? Comments, concerns, complaints or compliments.

Please don't talk about power levels or another stupid Naruto v. Sasuke thread, this is purely a discussion of their characters in Gaiden and comparison to their old selves.
