how are weapon made?

Where is everybody in narutoverse getting their weapons from? I know it just an anime but shouldn't there be some type of know swordsmith or something? And I'm not talking about kunai , I'm talking legendary sword certain character have.

it would be some special metal and the hidden mist might know about it then any other village. The current kage has a KG of lave so maybe a bit of science like forging certain metal at high temperature make it more special.... i know heating steel or iron together with ice strengthns the metal.
