Berserk pretty much introduced horror to manga. It's also probably the best manga ever made in my opinion.

Games like Dark Souls and many manga that have "fiends" were influenced by it.

I think Tokyo ghoul is more psychological rather than horrific, especially with all the censorship in the anime. Its still a good anime regardless.
