The fact is that this is not such an uncommon action of monkeys. I saw a documentary a while ago about a bunch of monkeys showing gang-like behavior where they attacked two other monkeys that invaded their territory and one of the signs of 'submission' was ripping off their testicles. This gave rise to the theory that the warlike behavior humankind is so found of, is something we inherited from our monkey-ancestors.

i read and watched stuff about juvenile primates acting like that

they compared them to human teenagers in gangs

animal planet and online articles
