That's the whole point. this is a coming of age story. We were introduced to K11 all through part one so naturally we begin to pick favorites out of them and we developed a connection with those said favorites. Begining of Part II we still followed their developments as 3 years passed and they are now Teens. The story is about Naruto and his class. The young surpassing the old.

Honestly many of the adults' histories were not really needed.( not that they weren't welcomed) They took much of the panel/screentime from those most of us have already established a connection to forcing us to choose a new favorites. Let me give you an example:

Neji was hyped as much as Sharingan users were in part I. Part II rolled around and he got little to no development. When it came time for his death, it had no real impact. See where I am going with this?

@bold, would be wrong. He was the elite one, who was defeated by NAruto , who was on equal footing with Sasuke. Sasuke the only sharingan user, was already above Neji's level in part 1.

Yea i think another problem is that people are taking characters like the K11 and making them into how the Strawhats are in one piece. But the thing is, the show is only focused around team 7. I mean most of the kids in part 1 got any relevency because either had to do with Sasuke or Naruto.

Naruto, Sakura, Sasuke, Konohameru, Shikamaru, Choji, Lee, Neji, Gaara, Hiruzen, Orochiamru, Tsunade, Jiraiya, Minato, Itachi, Kakashi, Obito, Ect, Ect got back stories and depth all the way up to the Pain arc.

I think the reason people prefer part 1 over part 2 is because part 1 stayed consistent with the speed of the strory and power scaling rose steadily and gradually. Part 2 started off nice and Scaling was gradual all until after the Pain Arc. After the Pain Arc, everything got crazy and so many plogt holes started arising. It was like kishimoto at that point begin rushing the story.

I prefer part 1 because it allowed you to fall in love with the characters and watch them grow. Part 2 seemed to be more about who was the strongest and who could reach god level the fastest..

Perfect example of this is orochimaru. In part 1 he was a badass who we knew nobody wanted any part of. His battle against jiraiya and tsunade and Hiruzen was epic in its own right. In part 2 orochimaru isnt even a relevant character, he is just a after thought. Mind you, Orochimaru was the main villain who was suppose to achieve his goal of becoming immortal and creating powerful forbidden jutsu. Now kishimoto summed him up and shut him down by making him state that he abadonned his dream to watch sasuke's life play out. What kind of crap is that. And thats what it seemed like kishimoto did to alot of his characters. In part 1 they were relevant and growing, but in part 2 he just dropped them and started trying to create new OP character (I.E Muu, 3rd Raikage, Hashirama, Madara, Obtio, Ect.)
But which character did we see grow in part 1? They were all kids.

In part 2, Orochimaru is already at a downhill, his time as a "Villain" was over. But look at the impact he had in part 2. Edo Hokages, Kabuto, Sasuke's powers and so on, team TAKA.

Ok here is the thing about part 1.

Hashirama and Madara = Already had known to ahve the power to create a valley. <<<<< no one in part 1 had power close to that.

No Kage level fights occured in part 1.

I mean i can see where the "powerscale" thing you guys refer to became an issue.. but the thing, it really wasn't that much. We had in part 1 , Itachi neg-diff soloing Kakashi.

We had a ninja like Rock lee, moving at sound speeds... i think that was already a hint the series was heading that way.

Then we have the starting , how the kyuubi was introduced " a swing of its tail could destroy mountains". Well we still haven't reached that point, but we knew it was going to be a mountain buster.

The VOTE fight between Naruto and Sasuke.... that was only a fight between kids.. and it was that powerful. Yet there were these ninja who were many times powerful as them.. only logical that they'd be stronger.

Not entirely accurate. Kakshi also had the Sharingan and we knew Itachi was out there although his appearance wasn't until much later. Also part of part I's hype was many people wanting to see Sasuke VS Neji (I wish that would have happened) as well as Neji VS Gaara which would have been a great to see. Saskue wasn't believed to be better than Neji at all. Even Kakashi noted this as stating in some ways the Byakugan was believed to be above the Sharingan at the time. But we never went beyond that.

After Neji's defeat his story wasn't over. If Kishi had spent time with his development we could've seen him possibly rewrite the whole Hyuuga Main and 2nd branch system, Neji and Lee's rivalry decided just to name a few.

Again don't get me wrong I agree with you. Part II is better overall. It was the pacing and unresolved side stories that leaves a bitter impression where only this war is concerned.

This is just my honest opinion regarding the topic of overhype of part 1..

See people say "ohhh part 1 was soo great" "Part 1 gave time to side characters"......... <<< all of that can possibly be true, if we are speaking of the anime.

But in the manga? rofl... noooo part 1 does not come close to part 2 of Naruto. People post these scans of part one, like "yo this was tight" "yo this was epic" "yoo thiss development, remember all that screen time they got"... uh what screen time? in the manga, it was still mostly about Naruto.

The most overhyped fight of Part 1.... Gaara vs Lee... only good in the anime...

Overall the perception of part 1 being "great" is made by people who confused the anime and the manga together, and have not truly gone back to read part 1. Sure people might prefer little kids fighting and etc, it might be their personal taste..... BUT THIS IS JUST MY OPINION!!!!!DON'T GET MAD ABOUT IT PLEASE!

Share your thoughts, am i partially right? or its not overhyped at all?

I agree, I mostly read the manga, and Part 2 far outstrips Part 1.

the only part of it i thought was all that fun to see was the invasion, Itachi's debut, and the intro of the Oto 4 to the end of Naruto & Sasuke's P1 fight. I didn't care very much for everything else. I don't care very much for P1 at all compared to Shippuden for that matter.

You can look up threads about it.

Naruto = gon
Killua = sasuke
chunin exams = hunter exams
hisoka = orochimaru
bisky = tsunade
Kurapika's scarlet eyes = sharingan
Kurapika's clan avenging = Sasuke's clan avenging
nature releases & affinities = nin types
God speed = sasukes chidori
rock paper scissors = rasengan
etc, etc, etc
LEL. You can do that with almost every shonen manga. Also H xH doesnt have elemental affinities. Naruto is nothing like Gon and God speed is nothing like chidori.
Also Kurapika is more like Sasuke with his red eyed clan being killed off and him wanting revenge. The only real similarity between Naruto and H X H is that both had an early arc about an exam and kurapika's quest for revenge.

The powerscaling thing got messed up during the pain arc imo.Naruto surpassed every single character ever shown at that point.to be able to fight the 6 paths like that when the strongest member of the leaf couldn't handle more then one at once...

When the demon path is rushing towards Tsunade,naruto is able to move fast enough to smash him without either pain or Tsunade reacting ctfu

I agree that there is probably a fair amount of nostalgia involved in NB users' preference of Part 1 vs Part 2.

But as someone who started watching/reading from the beginning of the series only a couple of years ago, I have a strong preference for Part 2. Sure, the rest of Naruto's classmates got limited development, but the plot got darker and more intense.

The main conflict of Naruto/Sasuke became stronger, with more complexity as Naruto realizes the near impossibility of trying to stay true to all of his values.

And yes, power scaling is messed up, but who here can honestly say that the insane power levels of Madara, Nagato, Obito, Naruto and Sasuke aren't part of what they enjoy?

I highly agree with this thread! You're not the only one man. I mean yes, I love part 1, but part 2 is just better to me overall.
