That's the whole point. this is a coming of age story. We were introduced to K11 all through part one so naturally we begin to pick favorites out of them and we developed a connection with those said favorites. Begining of Part II we still followed their developments as 3 years passed and they are now Teens. The story is about Naruto and his class. The young surpassing the old.
Honestly many of the adults' histories were not really needed.( not that they weren't welcomed) They took much of the panel/screentime from those most of us have already established a connection to forcing us to choose a new favorites. Let me give you an example:
Neji was hyped as much as Sharingan users were in part I. Part II rolled around and he got little to no development. When it came time for his death, it had no real impact. See where I am going with this?
@bold, would be wrong. He was the elite one, who was defeated by NAruto , who was on equal footing with Sasuke. Sasuke the only sharingan user, was already above Neji's level in part 1.
Yea i think another problem is that people are taking characters like the K11 and making them into how the Strawhats are in one piece. But the thing is, the show is only focused around team 7. I mean most of the kids in part 1 got any relevency because either had to do with Sasuke or Naruto.
But which character did we see grow in part 1? They were all kids.Naruto, Sakura, Sasuke, Konohameru, Shikamaru, Choji, Lee, Neji, Gaara, Hiruzen, Orochiamru, Tsunade, Jiraiya, Minato, Itachi, Kakashi, Obito, Ect, Ect got back stories and depth all the way up to the Pain arc.
I think the reason people prefer part 1 over part 2 is because part 1 stayed consistent with the speed of the strory and power scaling rose steadily and gradually. Part 2 started off nice and Scaling was gradual all until after the Pain Arc. After the Pain Arc, everything got crazy and so many plogt holes started arising. It was like kishimoto at that point begin rushing the story.
I prefer part 1 because it allowed you to fall in love with the characters and watch them grow. Part 2 seemed to be more about who was the strongest and who could reach god level the fastest..
Perfect example of this is orochimaru. In part 1 he was a badass who we knew nobody wanted any part of. His battle against jiraiya and tsunade and Hiruzen was epic in its own right. In part 2 orochimaru isnt even a relevant character, he is just a after thought. Mind you, Orochimaru was the main villain who was suppose to achieve his goal of becoming immortal and creating powerful forbidden jutsu. Now kishimoto summed him up and shut him down by making him state that he abadonned his dream to watch sasuke's life play out. What kind of crap is that. And thats what it seemed like kishimoto did to alot of his characters. In part 1 they were relevant and growing, but in part 2 he just dropped them and started trying to create new OP character (I.E Muu, 3rd Raikage, Hashirama, Madara, Obtio, Ect.)
In part 2, Orochimaru is already at a downhill, his time as a "Villain" was over. But look at the impact he had in part 2. Edo Hokages, Kabuto, Sasuke's powers and so on, team TAKA.
Ok here is the thing about part 1.
Hashirama and Madara = Already had known to ahve the power to create a valley. <<<<< no one in part 1 had power close to that.
No Kage level fights occured in part 1.
I mean i can see where the "powerscale" thing you guys refer to became an issue.. but the thing, it really wasn't that much. We had in part 1 , Itachi neg-diff soloing Kakashi.
We had a ninja like Rock lee, moving at sound speeds... i think that was already a hint the series was heading that way.
Then we have the starting , how the kyuubi was introduced " a swing of its tail could destroy mountains". Well we still haven't reached that point, but we knew it was going to be a mountain buster.
The VOTE fight between Naruto and Sasuke.... that was only a fight between kids.. and it was that powerful. Yet there were these ninja who were many times powerful as them.. only logical that they'd be stronger.
