Do you think Obito manipulated Danzo to form an alliance with Hanzo and betray the original Akatsuki? Not like Genjutsu manipulation, but just general manipulation. Like it will favor his chances to get closer to the village leadership.

Akatsuki was the one that wanted an alliance with Hanzo, they were the ones to approach first. Danzo probably offered Konoha's partnership, an offer that Hanzo just couldn't refuse. Later on upon orders from Obito, Danzo convinced Hanzo to get rid of the Akatsuki and their leader Yahiko to instill rage inside Nagato, getting rid of Yahiko and making Nagato easier to convince in one single shot. Betrayal and Despair together will change a good persons mind and heart very quickly don't you think?

Does this method not suit Obito? He demonstrated this in chapter 615 right? Gave Naruto a taste of despair.

Why else would they want Nagato to kill Yahiko himself? Sounds very similar to Kakashi killing Rin to me.

What could Danzo possibly gain from an alliance between Root and Amegakure which would favor his chances to become Hokage. It just seems like Obito threatened him with information about his experiments with Orochimaru or other dark secrets.

i tnk no.. bcoz while fighting konan obito said tat he motivated yahiko to form Ataskui.. evn he said tat he implanted rinnegan in nagato... he would hav not manipulated... its jus a coincidence... am not sure

it`s possible...obito definitely had some of his influence there because it suited his plan perfectly.he showed nagato some true despair.however i dont think obito and danzo interacted because then danzo would have said sth in his fight with sasuke.but i think obito did it somehow,maybe through a different shinobi or sth

Then why would he say "we haven't met since the Uchiha incident"? It's likely that they knew each other even before that.

Yahiko was getting in the way of Obito's plans. He didn't want Nagato near Obito. With Yahiko out of the picture, Obito could manipulate Nagato.
