Was Obito the one behind the Kyuubi's attack on Konoha?

So, unless you haven't been keeping up with the manga, it seems Obito really is Tobi. The big question now is if Obito was the one behind the nine tail's attack on Konoha. While anything is possible, it seems unlikely that Obito could fully control the nine tails at his age, and fight equally against Minato. What do you guys think? Was Obito the masked man in this fight, or was it the real Madara? Or even someone else? What do you think?

I think Madara gave him the task (and tools) before passing away. Idk though, just a thought I pulled out of my arse. xd

Good question...the most logically answer would be that Madara was Tobi then, but then again he was very old at the time of this battle, and most assuredly dead. There is also the option of a Zetsu clone. But unlikely. There's the possibility, since we do not know for sure, that Obito was trained by Madara, and his abilities grew astronomically over the estimated time span of 3 years. Similar to Naruto and Sasuke at the moment.

It could be Obito. We won't be for sure for a few more chapters

I can see that he controlled the kyuubi because he had MS, but the confusing part is how did he do the exact same summoning.

I don't believe it can be anyone other than Zetsu or Obito. Zetsu theoretically can use any technique of a person he transforms into (obito) and would explain why he was seemingly undamaged and only oozing white slime when hit. It doesn't explain why he was so good at controling the Kyuubi when he can only use their techniques to a certain degree. I do not believe it can be anyone else because the technique was clearly Obito's S/T technique.

Re: Was Obito the one behind the Kyuubi's attack on Konoha?

I would agree with Repulse and HashiramaDescendant that it was in fact Obito that controlled the Kyuubi and launched the attack on Konoha, under Madara's orders. I sincerely hope that Kishi explains how Obito's powers grew so much as to control it and fight the Fourth evenly! Kishi has a lot of explaining to do, that's for sure. While I believe Madara was alive during Obito's time, I do not think he would be much of a fighter then because of his age, and due to the fact that the masked man oozed a White Zetsu-like substance during their fight. IMO, Madara revived Obito's body using Zetsu somehow, although it does not explain why Obito's right side is still damaged. I guess we'll have to wait and see!

Edit: Good thought, Necromancer4276, that is also another reason I believe Obito was the aggressor. While it is possible that Obito's S/T jutsu is a common MS technique, I think it would be more feasibly an Obito/Kakashi technique. Also, I did take into consideration the possibility that the masked man is a Zetsu clone as you did, but I came to the same conclusion that Zetsu clones simply don't match the originals. While we still don't know, it seems fairly certain Obito is the real masked man! Exciting!

Because of the white substance oozing out of Tobi's left side of his body, when Obito's right side of his body was crushed, I may even consider the fact that Zetsu may have taken the identity of Tobi during this attack...

I agree that this is a valid theory, the only thing I don't understand is why the masked man in question would abandon his attack if he was indeed just a clone.

Re: Was Obito the one behind the Kyuubi's attack on Konoha?

I just went back and watched the Anime of the Minato - Tobi fight.

If Tobi is 100% Obito (Body and Soul)during that fight, and assuming he was trained by madara to control the kyuubi, Isn't it odd that Tobi was not prepared and was genuinely surprised by Minato's attacks? I mean he was his student yet he kept remarking on how fast he was and made a comment, "I must hand it to the 4th Hokage, You wounded me and managed to pull out the nine tails." If he was truly 100% Obito I can't see him being surprised by Minato's attacks. He genuinely fought him like hes never seen him fight before.

IMO, At this point it was Madara using Obito's body to accomplish the task since his was withered from old age and wounds from Hashi. Later on, He would die and Obito would take over his vendetta on the world.

It was probably always Obito which is very hard to believe. Madara and Tobi know each other though. Their connection will be explained I hope. I still would find it scary that a badly injured Obito could kill Naruto`s parents and control the kyubi at that point. I think Obito was built together quite abit for that. I doubt it`s all his original body.

tsunade said she can save them and she probably will.
gaara will most likely survive and mizukage as well. raikage also has a high chance. onoki being old and everything might die and tsunade will probably die. she's cut in two and she is trying to save the other 4. before she can she'll run out of energy and die herself.
