The British Invasion on Hollywood isn't at all new, but it is becoming more apparent.
Are American actors, in general, THAT inferior to British actors or what?
Daisy Ridley and John Boyega. The two new lead actors in America's most popular movie franchise. Star Wars Episodes 7-9. The lead actress in Rogue One is also British.
Christian Bale played Batman in the Dark Knight Trilogy. I'm glad Ben Affleck is playing him now.
Henry Cavill. Yeah, Kal-El's an alien, but Clark Kent is American and Superman operates out of America.
Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland. Two British Spider-Men in a row. Well, Andrew Garfield was born in California but raised in Britain.
Benedict Cumberbatch. Doctor Strange.
99% of the Game of Thrones cast are non-American. The author of the books is American. The network is American (HBO).
Andrew Lincoln. Lead actor on TWD.
SOOOOOO many other examples. And I'm not even including Australians and Canadians.
Don't get me wrong, these are all great actors and actresses, but I can't help but to feel salty about this as an American. And I admit, there are loads of British actresses that make me drool.
Hayley Atwell, Nathalie Emmanuel, Emilia Clarke, Kate Beckinsale
Also, Sherlock is my favorite show atm, so don't think that I dislike or even hate Brits. It's just that I'm very patriotic for America.
Yeah, global pop culture influence isn't the most important thing, but I'm proud that the U.S. currently has the most of it. I fear the U.K. (well, really just England) will overtake us in the coming decades. At least we'll continue to have the strongest military in the foreseeable future
