[Discussion] Hollow Evolution?

I'm a bit confused on the Hollow Evolutions. More on the fact from Adjuchas to Vasto Lorde.

It's never stated just how many powerful souls are needed to complete the evolution. But it's stated that a Vasto Lorde is on par with a captain. Grimmjow is around that level himself, so if an Adjuchas was to say, eat an unconcious Grimmjow when he's near death after being sneak attacked by Nnoitra, would that Adjuchas possibly evolve into a Vasto Lorde?

And what about Yammi? He has so much Spiritual energy locked away in his Resureccion he becomes the Cero espada. Yammi in his unreleased state is pretty damn weak, infact I'm pretty sure a decently-strong and fast Adjuchas could beat him. So if an Adjuchas killed him before he could release, and ate him would it get his locked away Spiritual energy aswell and possibly evolve into a Vasto Lorde?

Or would it take even more Spiritual energy than a captain class combatant had for an Adjuchas to evolve?

We've only seen 4 Vasto Lorde in the entirety of Bleach, so there is very limited information on that tier of evolution. Infact, so far the only 4 known Vasto Lorde are Ulquiorra, Harribel, Barragan and Starrk.

its not pokemon, dude. its not like a level 50 adjuchas can take down a level 35 vasto lorde.

the vasto lorde takes on a humanoid form, and a sudden jump in power is implied. although if a team of strong adjucas somehow took down a vasto lorde, it would probably get them well on their way to evolution, as you say.

It's not specified how many souls it takes to become a Vasto Lords. And I thought every one of the Espada were Vasto Lorde (minus #9)? In fact, no, they are all Vasto Lorde.

No, Grimmjow only ever reached Adjuchas. Granted, he was an Adjuchas that was probably more than half way to Vasto Lorde, but he still only ever attained the Adjuchas level.

Yeah, Kubo has never really properly explained the Hollow faction.

From my knowledge, there are three classes of Menos: Gillian, Adjuchas, and Vasto Lorde.

Gillians are Menos that arise from the fusion of multiple non-Menos Hollows.

These Gillians, through more consumption of other hollows and Gillians, can become Adjuchas, and regain sentience and more power.

Adjuchas can then further their evolution to become Vastl Lordes, small and humanoid; the closest to Arrancars.

However, Arrancars can be derived from any of the three Menos classes via the Hogyoku, as seen with the Espada.

Aaroniero evolved from a Gillian.

Grimmjow and Ulquiorra evolved from Adjuchas.

Halibel (and possibly Starrk), evolved from Vasto Lordes.

In terms of power levels, it goes Arrancar>VL>Adjuchas>Gillians>Regular Non-Menos Hollows.

Grimmjow was an Adjuchas prior to becoming an Arrancar.
Aaroniero was a Gillian prior to becoming an Arrancar.


Don't go around spouting crap as fact when you don't know the details.

Vasto Lordes are stronger than captains. Toshiro stated if Aizen had ten, then Soul Society would be doomed. Luckily, Harribel was the only Vasto Lorde (atleast confirmed) none of the other espasa were Vasto Lordes as far as we know.

If Halibel was a Vasto Lorde then I'd also say Barragan and Stark were as well. It doesn't make sense that Halibel was a Vasto Lorde Arrancar while the two Espada above her weren't.

Also, Ulquiorra was confirmed to be a Vasto Lorde in one of the data/character books. Pages are floating around NB somewhere.

Anyways, I wouldn't take what Hitsugaya said too literally. He said the Vasto Lorde were stronger than Captains but think about it, who did the Espadas #1-4 end up fighting?

#1) Stark fought Kyoraku who's one of the strongest Captains in Soul Society
#2) Barragan fought Hachi and lost to his own Respira
#3) Halibel fought Hitsugaya who is a once in a century prodigy and was done in by Aizen in the end
#4) Ulquiorra fought Ichigo who was in his full hollow form

Every opponent that the Espadas #1-4 fought were much stronger than your average Captain.
