Hokage Mistake?

Okay so Minato is Naruto's dad and also the fourth Hokage (he sealed the nine-tails in Naruto when he was a baby and died in the process) right?? So how is it that The third Hokage fought the 2nd and 1st Hokage during the Chunin exams in which Naruto participated in? Am I overlooking something or is their a mistake?

right before naruto was born his dad Minato the 4th hokage was the hokage because he succeeded the 3rd Hokage because he was probably better and the third was getting old but he was still alive. When the 4th Hokage Minato died the 3rd Hokage came out retirement basically to be the hokage agian....thats why he fought Oro durring the chunin exams.....everything u said is correct btw.....and no there is no mistake there
