Hokage Exams

Since they have genin and chunin exams... There should be hokage exams..What are your thoughts

Sure you have to be good in battle to be a Hokage, but it takes more than that. I don't think an exam would help anyone.

hokage exams would be freakin epic, however i think battle should be one of the skills assessed among other things for these 'hokage exams'.

Intelligence in terms of decision making and other things that makeup a good hokage should all be assessed in these exams and then a final decision is to be made.

Basically where they go through all the steps of the exams and it features all the main people trying to gain the title.

That's how Hashirama was chosen. But I think that only applies to the very first Kage of a village. The rest are chosen either by the Kage himself, or the Ninja council.

why would you need an exam for a position so high up
by the time you actually try to become hokage everyone will have already recognised your skills intelligence etc
there would be no need for an exam
you're either hokage material or you aren't
and thats something people can tell just by looking at who you are and what you've done at that point

Becoming Hokage is more about gaining the village reputation of being the strongest ninja not about passing an exam.

Go back to Hashi and Madara, even though Madara was quite capable of protecting the village they wanted Hashi as the leader because he had a lot more reputation.

Hokage is the strongest fighter in the village period except in Tsunade's period. She changed it as well as the third being reinstated. So when it comes down to it there should not be a choice in the matter simply who has the greatest ability and can protect the village when it is in need

A battle between the current hokage and the new hokage candidate at the Valley of the end would do, didn't they say in the very beginning that the hokage is the strongest ninja in the village
