Maybe Jiraiya simply never thought of it, True it wouldn't be fun at all but seriously he would be way too much has a ninja if he did that from the beginning

It's just another example of Naruto's stupidity that he didn't figure out the effects of the technique himself - Kakashi had to tell him...

Even then I don't think months of non stop clone aided learning could cure Naruto of his inherent and unrelenting stupidity - it's... a chronic non-curable illness on par with Itachi's mysterious terminal disease.

Naruto turned out to be pretty a handful from the moment Kakashi told him about the secondary effect of Kage Bunshin no Jutsu. Now Naruto has the potential to develop intelligence far more quickly than any other character.
