Before indulging fully into History of Shinobi, we must first take a look at a bit of the background and abilities of many of the ninja lost in time. Senju Hashirama and Tobirama, and Uchiha Madara and Izuna are known well enough, but many of the other ninja have vague or non-existent backgrounds in other records. So to begin with, the leader of the Kamizuru clan, Kamizuru Hyotta, will be our first subject.
"Hyotta!" came a voice from a fair distance away. "They're coming!" Kamizuru Hyotta took an offensive stance, and waited for the incoming attack. Sure enough, a barrage of kunai appeared in the sky, and began to hail on top of him and his clan.
"Damn camouflage users!" Hyotta said grudgingly. "Earth Style: Arial Barricade!" A large wall of earth erupted from the ground before Hyotta's feet, and then went backwards in a ninety degree angle to create a roof, which the barrage of kunai bounced off of with soft clicks.
"Bee Style: Thousand Bee Stings Jutsu!" came a voice near the far edge of the wall. He pressed his thumb into his palm and held his arms straight out, a swarm of bees flying from his sleeves. The Kamizuru clan's bees were able to locate an enemy from far distances, and attack on command. The swarm of bees surrounded a bush several yards away, and their chakra-enhanced stingers were clearly visible flying into the bush.
The bush rustled, and several ninja leapt into the air, trying to avoid the chakra bee stingers.
"Gotcha..." Hyotta said softly. "Earth Style: Premature Burial Jutsu." Several strands of earth around the group of ninja began to slide towards the sky like a snake, twisting together to form a cone of earth, which abruptly sank back down into the ground, crushing anyone caught inside.
"Good work, Hyotta-sama," one of the Kamizuru clan members near him said, his eyes closed as if he were concentrating. "But there's a great power source headed our way."
"Is it Hashirama?" Hyotta asked. "What about those Uchiha brats; I'd hate to fight one of them."
"It's hard to tell, but I doubt it's an Uchiha." Just then the roof above cracked just a few feet away from Hyotta. It cracked again and a slender man fell through, landing in a crouch. Every member of the Kamizuru clan under the barricade pulled out swords, kunai, or other various weapons and trained them on the newcomer.
"Please," he gasped. "I just need somewhere to stay safe while I rest. These past few days have exhausted me."
"Your chakra levels would indicate differently," the sensor said.
"I made enemies with one of the Senju clan members, and I doubt the Uchiha would take a liking to me. So I ran away before the clan could strike, though every time I stopped moving I could hear a group of ninja getting closer and closer."
"You made enemies with the Senju?" Hyotta asked. "Do you honestly think there's a clan out there, aside from the Uchiha, who could give you proper protection against them!?"
"Please, I just need something to eat, drink, and a place to rest. I'll leave by tomorrow." Hyotta approached the strange man, and slide a hand up his sleeve. When he pulled his hand out again, it was coated with honey.
"Here," he said, and pulled out a small kerchief from a pocket with his clean hand. He wiped the honey on the kerchief, and handed it to the man.
"Thank you," he said, and began to lick the honey from the small napkin. "You just have honey up your sleeve?" he asked in the middle of his "meal".
"Yes," Hyotta said simply.
"Boss," the sensor said timidly. "This guy wasn't kidding about the group of ninja after him!"
"What do you know for a fact about these men coming after you?" Hyotta asked.
"For a fact?" The man thought for a moment. "They sound angry."
"That's all? So we have a group of unidentified, angry ninja, who are possibly of the Senju clan. Alright men, are we ready to fight!?" There was an overwhelming cheer as the clan ran out to meet the mysterious group of ninja.
As the front lines began to fight with one another, Hyotta leapt high into the air, his figure blocking the sun for a few moments. When he landed, he held a water sickle in one hand, and an earthen mace in the other. With a loud battle cry from the heart of the opposing group, Hyotta began to tear through every ninja within arm’s length, making his way outwards in a ripple-like formation.
As he tore down the ninja, they certainly wore the Senju clan symbol, and their clan was confirmed when several ninja he left for dead attacked him from behind, showing the clan's great vitality.
A swarm of bees flew across the air, large enough to block the sun for a few moments. A shower of needle-like stingers rained down over the Senju crowd, a hole in the rain where Hyotta stood, the bees recognizing him as an ally. Hyotta caught a man who was retreating around the neck with his sickle, and smashed his skull in from behind with the mace.
Several more people began to flee, and Hyotta began to look about, realizing that they were fleeing for their own safety.
"Ha!" he shouted. "The mighty Senju, falling to the humble Kamizuru clan! Will nobody fight me?"
"I will," came a cold voice from behind. The hairs on the back of Hyotta's neck stood on end as he whipped around to see the leader of the Senju attack; Senju Tobirama himself!
"Why are you after that man?" Hyotta asked, finally remembering why he was fighting the greatest clan known to date in the first place.
"He attempted to assassinate my brother, Senju Hashirama!" came the young man's reply. Attempting an assassination of the leader of the Senju clan! Hyotta thought. That's more than "making enemies with one of the members"! "I've come to avenge him."
"Is Hashirama still alive?" Hyotta asked. A bee then returned to him, and began a small dance, indicating that his clan were as far away from him as possible.
"Of course he is," Tobirama replied. "No no-name ninja is able to kill the greatest shinobi who ever lived!"
"You seem to forget the Sage," Hyotta replied.
"'Except for the Sage' is implied in statements such as that!" The conversation turned into a stare-down as Hyotta stared down one of the greatest ninja, by reputation, who ever lived.
Then Tobirama made a movement. He made a single handseal, and Hyotta just noticed the water which had been collecting under his feet.
"Shit!" he yelled, trying to jump back before the jutsu.
"Water Style: Pressure Wave!" The water leapt into the air, and Hyotta noticed that the volume seemed to expand as it moved, creating a massive wall flying straight at him.
He clapped his hands together, and a swarm of bees exited his sleeves, flying straight into the wall of water.
"You and your bee-users!" Tobirama scoffed, "using attacks that'll have no effect on grand-scale jutsu! Why do we let you call yourselves shinobi?"
"Here's why!" Hyotta clapped his hands together, and wove a quick series of handseals. As the bees traveled through the water, the pollen off of their thighs began to mix with the water in Tobirama's jutsu, creating a thin honey.
"Honey Style: Hive Comb Cannon!" The great wall of honey slowing towards Hyotta began to take the shape of a hexagonal wall resembling a honey comb. While the wall was large, the comb was small, containing most of the honey inside the combs. Then the combs began to fire the honey towards Tobirama like a cannon, the now-thick substance flowing more gracefully than natural honey.
"Honey Style: Grand Sticky-Field Capture!" The blobs of honey, when approaching Tobirama, exploded into multiple webs of the sweet, sugary substance. Many of the webs caught Tobirama, and proceeded to wrap around him with their original momentum.
Tobirama sighed, a bubble forming in the viscous honey, and made one handseal. Water vapor from around him began to collect and for drops of water on the honey, making it thinner and thinner. As honey began to slide away from Tobirama's mouth, he spoke.
"That was a good combination, Kamizuru," he said. "Unfortunately, Honey against Water is not a good match up!"
"Watch," Hyotta responded, weaving quick handseals. "Honey Style: Expansion Technique!" The honey in the honey/water mixture began to grow larger with the jutsu, overtaking the thin water and regaining its thick, viscous properties.
"I was afraid it would come to this..." Tobirama mumbled, before the thick honey once again fell over his mouth. He made one handseal, and the space beside him tore open, releasing a familiar man.
"That's one of ours, isn't it?" Hyotta asked anyone from his clan, none of whom were close enough to hear.
"Edo Tensei!" Even though his voice was muffled, the words were clear enough. Dust began to form around the man, taking the shape of a young man. The man summoned a Shakujō, and held it close to the honey covering Tobirama. The staff somehow caused the honey to become unstable and fall off before Hyotta could do anything, without harming Tobirama.
"The Senju clan ancestor!" Tobirama announced. "It's the end of the line for you, and your fugitive friend!"
Hyotta pulled out a small scroll from inside his kimono, and bit his thumb, spreading blood across one of the lines of symbols. Only certain parts of the scroll were blood-soaked, showing that it was rarely used.
"Kamizuru Clan Forbidden Technique!" he called over the wind that was rising. "Bee-Body Technique!" The man’s robe fell off as bees living under his skin began to crawl to the outside, creating a human analogue of bees. The bees then formed wings, and the bee-man took to the skies.
Honey poured down on the two Senju, the clan ancestor merely waving his Shakujō mysteriously to make it fall away. However, it seemed as though the honey was only a distraction, as Hyotta swooped down and tore off the Senju clan ancestors head, knocking Tobirama to the ground with his new wing in the process.
"Where's your ancestor now!?" he called, his voice like the buzzing of bees.
"Right here," Tobirama said, pushing himself up. As he spoke, the head in Hyotta's hands faded to dust, and the ancestor's head reformed. He then waved the Shakujō, and a blast of chakra shot at Hyotta, tearing a hole where his heart should have been. However, more bees just filled the hole, and the man seemed unharmed.
"We are both invincible, sir," Hyotta said, softly landing on the ground. "However, I have the techniques to stop you!" Hyotta flew forwards, his feet nearly, but not quiet touching the ground. He held the scroll in his hand, and blood from the bees poured over another line on the scroll.
"TIME TO END YOU!" he shouted in his buzzing rasp. As he was about to grab the Senju ancestor, another hand took the scroll and grabbed the man who was confident he could not die.
"Kyta?" Hyotta asked, looking at the clan’s sensor and his right-hand man.
"I won't let you kill yourself, Hyotta!" he said, energy visibly flowing between him and the Senju ancestor. "I must do this." The Shakujō tapped the sensor on the head, and the Senju ancestor tried to push Kyta away, but his hand seemed glued to his head.
"It's not chakra," Kyta replied. "That precious staff of yours absorbs and shoots chakra, doesn't it? This is my life energy, a technique designed to destroy two soles completely so to leave no trace of either afterwards. The forbidden scroll of Hyotta has several unthinkable techniques like this." The two men began to glow in a white light, and then they both vanished.
The bees making up Hyotta's body then died, ending the technique, and their bodies began to converge and form human flesh, muscles, organs, bones, and everything else they had replaced. Several Kamizuru members ran up to him to support their now-weakened leader.
"Kamizuru Hyotta," Tobirama said, standing over the protected man. "You performed well, here. I will allow you and your clan to live. However, I will continue to hunt down that man starting at daybreak tomorrow. If he is still with you, I will show no mercy as I am today." The unconscious leader of the Kamizuru clan lay there, and the next-in-command acknowledged Tobirama's statements.
"Until we meet again, Kamizuru Hyotta."
"Hyotta!" came a voice from a fair distance away. "They're coming!" Kamizuru Hyotta took an offensive stance, and waited for the incoming attack. Sure enough, a barrage of kunai appeared in the sky, and began to hail on top of him and his clan.
