I think Hiruzens physical prowess has been greatly underrated. Hes 70 years old and look what he was capable of.
He tanked a combo from Hashirama low difficulty with no bruises or injuries at age 70. Notice he said Hashiramas power has not waned one bit so even if Hashirama was a lesser edo then, his physical power was still the same as when alive:
His durability must be very high in order to withstand something like that at his age. OMG imagine his prime!
Got blitzed by Hashirama and Tobirama, they didn't use shunshin, just their base speed... but still....... he dodged the kunai threw to distract him and still countered Hashirama neg difficulty.
Right after Hashirama blitzed him, Tobirama did. Look at that reaction speed, stopped 2 blitzs consecutively and still overwhelmed Tobirama in taijutsu. But look at the big picture here, how he effortlessly throw Tobirama, a grown man several meters away at age 70! OMG imagine his prime.
Look. One kick with no leverage knocked Orochimaru back several meters. Orochimaru is known for his crazy durability yet Hiruzen kicked him far away before he could even react point blank range. That goes to show he has high fight speed too. Imagine his prime! That kick would have done big damage to Orochimaru.
