Nope. PS's sword is the one that interact with the Gates not the energy of a TBB exploding on impact.

2 different damage attacks. If no sword was orbiting the TBB, the Gates would of have been obliterated from the explosion.

His best option was those Gates, because the swords will attempt to cut through anything in its path, for the TBB to safely explode without interference.

Point being, no it didn't weaken anything. It was intentional since Mokuton will not work here.
