Hiruzen murks him. He can use superior Katons and Futons to Asuma's (barring Hien) and has three other elemental blasts at his disposal as well. Hiruzen is effectively a slower version of Asuma that can use all five elements, has superior CQC capabilities (between a higher Taijutsu stat and Enma), has superior weapon usage, has superior intelligence feats, and has access to Kage Bunshin. Hiruzen's one disadvantage in speed is outweighed by everything else he brings to the table.
