Obviously Orochimaru tired to kill Hiruzen but his Yin power (Mental) is so strong that he made Orochimaru stab himself instead. Hiruzen would just make Itachi light himself on fire via Amaterasu or make Shisui jump from a bridge and break his neck. Please stop denying Manga Facts.
